WILL.I.AM PRAISES PLANT BASED LIVING BY LAUNCHING V-GANG
Celebrity vegan will.i.am created the V-Gang earlier this year, a movement he defines as “a group of people taking a hardcore gangster approach to wellness and conscious living.”
He ditched animal products last year after doctors informed him he had high cholesterol and high blood pressure, and since opting for the plant-based lifestyle, will.i.am has been vocal about the benefits going plant based has on his health and his new relationship he now has with food.
In his Instagram video detailing the V-Gang philosophy, he highlights the “dark forces” hidden within the food industry that work to “keep us sick” and pledges to fight them. He says, "For many years I would go to sleep and wake up tired. That's because my body was processing God knows what kind of crazy wicked s*it that was approved…..In going vegan, I realized there's like this, militia. There's a force out there - a dark force - that is doing a very good job of keeping us all sick.”
The V-Gang serves as a vigilante approach to self-help and to self-medication. "[It's about] working out, being conscious of what you put in your body, and what you give back to society. And that's the V-Gang."
Will.i.am is not the only one to speak against the current state of the food industry. Documentaries such as “What the Health?,” which has been responsible for celebrities such as Lewis Hamilton and Ne-Yo making the switch to veganism, as well as “Food, Inc.” “Forks over Knives,” and “PLANEAT” also expose the link between poorer public health and the meat and dairy industry.
